We don’t do participation trophies. Rebel treats singer-songwriter development like a martial art: progress is earned, not given. You start at White Strap and work your way up through audited performance milestones, instrument mastery, and raw vocal control. Replace years of isolated trial-and-error with a clear, step-by-step path to mastery.

  • REAL-WORLD BENCHMARKS: You don't level up from a textbook or an attendance sheet. You advance by playing live, recording, building chops, and proving your skills on stage. Cut out the guesswork of trying to figure it out alone.

  • CRAFT-FOCUSED COMMITMENT: Mastery requires consistency. Ranks are earned through active output, daily accountability, and regular performance evaluations that help you build real momentum.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Reach Brown and Black Strap to unlock exclusive gig opportunities, high-level workshops for upper-ranked students, and member-only rates on pro-level audio services for your next release.

A Message From Our Founder

STORM JAY NORMAN

I built Rebel Music School because too many singer-songwriters spend years hiding in their bedrooms with unfinished songs and no roadmap. Traditional music schools teach generic concepts just to check boxes, but being a singer-songwriter requires a specialized approach. Master the synchronization of singing and playing guitar. Learn the skills of arrangement, phrasing, and stagecraft. Dive deep into lyric writing and chord theory so you have an arsenal of options to create with. I'm not here to waste your time with endless busywork. I'm here to help you build the exact skills you need to be a professional, earn your straps, and get your original music out to the world. If you're committed to mastering the craft and ready to work, submit an audition today.

STILL NEED MORE INFO? Here Are the most

FREQUENTLY ASKed QUESTIONS

Below should cover everything else you need to know about joining the Rebel Music Community.

1. Is this for beginners who have never touched a guitar or sung before?

No. You do need experience singing and basic guitar skills. This program is exclusively for intermediate singer-songwriters who are already playing, singing, and writing, but are stuck in their bedrooms, struggling to finish songs, and lacking the professional guidance to build their art into a real career.

2. Do I have to start at White Strap if I'm already an advanced player?

Everyone starts with an official evaluation. If you already have solid technical skills, you’ll fly through the early quarterly evaluations. That said, even advanced players have blind spots—like vocal care, gear maintenance, tuning by ear, and efficient practice habits. We lock those down first so your foundation is bulletproof, meeting you at your actual level while filling the gaps. We're here to make you bulletproof, not hold you back.

3. What if I sing and write but don't own a guitar yet?

If you have a strong vocal foundation and a commitment to learning how to back yourself, you're still welcome to apply. We maintain dedicated acoustic rental guitars on-site so you can get straight to work without needing to buy gear on day one.

4. How long is the program, and what is the milestone timeline?

While every artist is different, if you show up consistently and put in the work, we fully expect most students to work through the ranks in 2-3 years to earn their Black Strap and develop into a confident performing artist with recorded original music.

• Month 6: Master your craft, conquer stage anxiety, and step onto the Athens stage for our bi-annual live showcase.

• Month 12 (Blue Strap): Complete your arrangements, utilize Rebel Sound studio access, and walk away with a polished, 3-song demo release engineered to secure real gigs.

• Years 2–3 (Brown & Black Strap): Advanced workshops, real gigs, high-level recording experience, and a real catalogue of work to earn the Black Strap rank.

5. Can I do this program remotely if I don't live in Athens, GA?

No. Rebel is anchored in our physical space in Athens, Georgia. This isn't an online video course; it requires physical presence for 1-on-1 mentorship, studio access, weekly masterclasses, events, and local live performance opportunities.

6. How many hours a week do I need to commit?

This isn't a casual hobby where you pick up the guitar twice a week for twenty minutes. Between private mentorship, masterclasses, writing, and instrument practice, you must be prepared to invest serious weekly hours to pursue mastery in your craft. Refer to the Rebel Code to better understand the standards everyone here is expected to hold ourselves to.

7. Do you teach modern pop production and beat-making?

No. We are an acoustic and organic singer-songwriter academy. If your goal is heavy electronic production or trap beats, this isn't your room. If your goal is mastering high-end guitar arrangement, vocal delivery, and timeless songwriting, you're in the right place.

8. How do you handle recording and production?

We focus entirely on elite songcraft, guitar mastery, arrangement, and vocal performance through Rebel Sound Studios. For the final mix and master polish, we plug you directly into our trusted professional engineering network so your acoustic release holds up to current market standards.

9. How does the commitment and billing work?

We operate on a 6-month commitment model billed at $697 per month. This locks in your recurring 1-on-1 schedule, studio priority, weekly masterclasses, monthly workshops, and quarterly strap evaluations for the full term.

10. Is tuition financing available?

Yes. We offer automated, zero-interest financing options (via Klarna and Affirm) at checkout so you can break your tuition down into manageable monthly payments that fit your budget.

11. What happens if my audition file is rejected?

We look for a solid baseline to ensure every artist can keep pace in the room. If you aren't quite ready yet, our faculty will provide direct feedback on what to sharpen so you can take our notes into your practice and reapply for a future intake.

12. Can parents track progress or attend quarterly evaluations?

Yes. We maintain strict transparency. Parents receive clear, quarterly progress reports and are encouraged to attend our audited strap-ranking evaluations and bi-annual live showcases to watch their artist step up and perform.

13. What if I have a scheduling conflict with a masterclass or private session?

We operate on a consistent weekly schedule to keep your momentum strong. If an unavoidable conflict pops up, we’ll work with you to reschedule, but steady attendance is essential to protect your spot and your progress.
